I am.
But who am I.
Am I mother Earth, a feminine being of light.
Or am I the force that through the green flowers fuse.
Am I am the all knowing Father who preserves peace in the family.
Am I the thousand headed god
or am I the statue by the road where people pour water on the stones.
Am I love.
Am I the sun and the flood of light in space.
Or am I the cold moon in a dark sky shining a pale cool light.
Am I the vista of stars.
Am I philosophy and ethics and the moral code of men.
Am I the book.
The law.
The command.
The word.
Am I thought.
Am I life and health.
Or am I death and darkness.
Am I the chariots of the ancients,
the sound OM,
the human body
or am I one leaf, a dog, a cow, an elephant or an ant.
Am I music or am I silence.
Am I awareness of breath,
the witness,
the watcher,
being and non being.
Am I the light of the mind,
what they call the soul,
emptiness,
or am I simply a question.
Am I one.
Am I - black or white,
temple or theatre,
high or low,
left or right.
Am I am a female archetype -
the boddhisattva of compassion,
avolokiteshvara
or the thousand headed kali,
or a god of destruction returning to destroy the Earth.
Am I the story,
the dream,
the imagination,
the poem,
or am I the number,
the code,
and the digit.
Am I technology or am I nature.
Am I the network.
Am I the man,
the woman,
the human.
Am I the son,
the daughter,
the father,
the mother.
Am I the actor saying his lines on an empty stage.
Or the performer delivering his piece to an audience.
Am I divine if I am criminal.
Am I the martyr or the martyred.
Am I the cross or the light,
the hymn, or the stock-market.
Am I water or fire.
Am I birth or death.
Am I knowledge
or am I the mystical.
